What age do you start taking a kid to movies?

I understand that this may depend heavily on the ability of an individual child to behave in a movie theater setting; however, I'm just getting a general idea.

I took my 2.5 year old to a movie I knew she'd love. We went on a weekday, first showing. There was only one other family in the theatre. She did good! Definitely wouldn't feel comfortable taking her if the circumstances were any different though lol

Went to see Annabelle the Creation tonight...had about a seven year old on one side of me who was quiet, and polite, while the adult couple to the right of me wouldn't stop making out and talking shit about the movie.
Then there was the crying baby in the back...
It definitely depends on the kid.

I think about 3 or 4. That's when they start preschool so they should be fine as long as it's a kid movie! Nothing bothers me more then going on a date with my husband and seeing apg-13 or r rated film and children crying, screaming, and running around. Those movies are not made to catch the children's attention.
