Did you ever go? Did you like it? How is your life now whether you went or not?

I wouldn't have become who I am today without going to university. I have a BSc and a DVM. I'm currently working on my master's too. The only way to become a veterinary surgeon is to go to university. So career wise university was my only option. Education has also always been very important to me- I value education incredibly highly. In my opinion, university opens doors to many careers and futures. With just a high school diploma many doors are closed to you. It also teaches hard work, how to research (which is so important- the amount of people that don't know how to fact check is appalling in my opinion), how to prioritize, etc. Besides, I think it was an exceptional experience as well. You do a lot of personal growth and self discovery in university. You make incredible friends as well and meet people from various backgrounds that you'd never meet in high school. It's an important social experience as well as an educational one. 
 
Not going to university would've been a very serious mistake for me. I think it's the best course of action after high school.

I went to community college in high school and university after. Had a good time at both. But now I have insane debt and the job market is shit, even with a "marketable" major. My advice? Only go if you have a very specific end goal and consider any & all cheaper options that can get you to the same outcome.

Go get your education!  Especially if you are a woman!  It's a super hard road to work your way into a decent paying career without a degree!  It's possible, but tough! Good luck!

I loved learning and school. I wasn't there for the social aspect. I had a 3.8 and excelled. I'm now a teacher and realize I would be making more with better benefits and less hours had I stayed at the bank I worked at to pay for my books and gas money during my college years...and I wouldn't have had the loan money to pay back. I do love my career, I knew I wouldn't make a ton when I chose it, but its nearly impossible to find a public school job and I work for a small parochial school making $20,000 after being there for five years. They also cut benefits so I went from them paying my health insurance to me paying it. I'm leaving my job after this school year, I'm only staying to get my sick time during maternity leave and then finishing out the year, but if I can't find something at the public level, I'll be back at the bank anyway. It kills me I can't afford to stay at my job but I literally can't afford it.

Yes - l loved it. Made a lot of good friendships, developed my confidence in being a professional, my professional communication skills, my drive to succeed (l got A's in high school but college courses are a lot tougher - takes hours of studying etc), improved my critical thinking, and broadened my view points. My perspectives changed dramatically as l learned a WORLD of things. I loved having general ed requirements because l learned a lot form many different topics - biology, geology (hated it, so boring), sociology, psychology, child development, women's studies, anthropology, history, just to name a few. And then l got to learn all about my passion - social work 😍 lf college courses weren't so expensive, l honestly could have easily gone for a degree in family studies, sociology, criminal justice and anthropology. I loved those topics.

I found that it makes a difference when speaking in a professional capacity. But that's just my experiences.
