How would you react if you got proposed to via text?

My boyfriend of 3 years just asked me to marry him during his 10 day leave (he's in the military) via text message which is a little less than 2 months from now and I went through 5 different emotions in a matter of 10 minutes. First I was overjoyed that he even brought up marriage without me bringing it up, then I went into a panic because I'm a traditional girl and he hasn't even mentioned it to his parents or mine! I slowly began to ease into anger because he really just asked to marry him without even ASKING me to marry him. I then went into sadness because I think I deserve more than just a text message saying "hey let's get married" and I really want to enjoy being engaged before marriage. Now I'm in a contempt mood but optimistic at the same time. I already let him know that I feel like I deserve more and would like to atleast have pictures of his proposal, not screenshots but I appreciate him trying. He said he didn't realize how he was asking was a bad thing and now I feel awful! I know I'm going to marry him but I really expected him to do the whole down on one knee thing. Hell, I still expect it. Is that selfish of me? Am I alone on this one?
