Does anyone find it hard to talk to there religious parents?

Idk why but it's like they are unable to think outside of the crazy church stuff... it's so sad to me because I would love to have deep honest conversations with my mom but it's always Jesus this and church that 😔

I am religious and I can't even stand talking to my grandparents sometimes ( my grandpa's a pastor), when I talk to them about something going on or if I'm stressed all they say is "I will pray for you" or " maybe it's God's will" and it's so frustrating cause I wanted help to solve the problem not get told to sit around and wait for what may or may not happen

My whole family is very religious and believes that you do NOT bring a baby into the world without being married...I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and 24 years old in MY own house with my boyfriend of 3 years. I'm dreading the day I have to tell them I'm pregnant because I KNOW the first thing they'll say is when are y'all getting married and that we need to go to the court house and get married...we want to get married because we love each other and the time is right... not because we're having a baby...I just don't want to hear it and get those judgmental stares from everyone 🙄🙄🙄

This post could have been written by me. Every conversation I have with my mom has to circle back to her trying to convince me to go to church with her and bring my kids. She gets really upset and basically says I'm a bad mom for not having my kids in church every Sunday. It's like she never wants to just have a real conversatuon with me, it's just a decoy foe her to get back to her real mission: trying to guilt me into coming to her church. It's annoying and hurts a lot.

I'm very involved with my church but I get what you're saying. Some people can take it to an extreme and come off in a really negative way. I generally let my non Christian friends set the tone for a conversation, with occasional input from my perspective. Maybe point out that it stresses you out? Don't know if they do it unintentionally or if they are just being rude about it...

I'm a devout Catholic and don't hog conversations with religion at every chance. That's a personality thing. An atheist is just as likely to railroad a conversation as a religious person, if their personality is that way. Tell your parents to respect you, you're an adult.

Unfortunately this is the case with many people in religious views. I have not spoken to my family due to the closed minds and judging for over 15 years. It's been hard not having blood family support but I have found my other family to be the best supporting and most understanding always. To me this has been better than constant criticism and heartache
