How early is too early to send a save the date baby shower invite?

I just sent mine. Due Dec.15th - but since I'm having twins, they will be here 36-38 weeks. Plus, I don't want I be too huge to enjoy. My Baby-Q is sept. 30th

My best friend is throwing mine and I'm due Dec 6 and the shower is Oct 1. She sent them this past weekend, 6 weeks ahead of time, because a lot of the people invited live out of town.

sent mine out yesterday but baby shower is Sept 30 I'd say at least a month before with all the holidays coming up soon I'd send them as soon as you can.
