I don't think they are racist. But I do think that they are inappropriate to have up in towns/cities because our country does not stand for what those people stood for, and shouldn't. Statues like that belong in a museum. I honestly don't want the statues completely destroyed - because they are a part of history. Just like auschwitz has not been torn down. It's an unfortunate part of history but still important to remember. Take the statues down - put them in museums. The statue itself is not racist. But the person that the statue depicts was racist.
