Sterilising bottles?

Hey. Has anyone NOT sterilised bottles? Some sources suggest that as long as you have good quality water, using only hot soapy water is fine to clean the bottles. Anyone get on fine just doing that?

I don't sterilize my bottles, I just break them down and wash them thoroughly with hot soapy water every time I use them, and my baby is just fine. People are too overly protective these days

I sterilize all bottles and pump parts once a week. Other than that I just wash with hot soapy water after each use.

We never sterilized bottles with my daughter.  Just regular washing. She's 4 now so she survived lol.

I asked my pediatrician this exact question. he said as long as your area has good clean tap water, just clean them in hot soapy water. I always break my bottles down after a feed, rinse each piece, and a night I make a big container of hot soapy water and let the parts sit in it for at least five minutes. Then I go in and clean each piece, rinse and place them on a drying rack to dry for the next day's use.

I sterilized when I got them but that's it. Sometimes they go in the dishwasher but mostly they get hand washed. Baby's 11 months old and we've had no issues.

I have 3 boys. 8yo, 5yo, and now 3 months. I have never sterilized a bottle. I soak them all in hot soapy water and wash and air dry and make sure they are completely dry before they go back into the cabinet. none of my kids have ever had thrush or any other serious illness. of course they have gotten the occasional cold but non of them got anything serious until bottle feeding was over after 1 yo.
