No idea what i want to do with my life

Luna • 21. VA.

Anybody else completely lost when it comes to what career you want to do for the rest of your life?

I'm 21 and started college two years ago studying psychology, then switched to sociology, but quit before second semester ended.

I just don't know what I want to do. I know I would love helping others in some way I just can't figure out how.

I guess I'm just asking for advice from anyone who's been in the same boat or has any ideas on what options I have.

Yes, a lot! But you know what's even worse ? In every job offer I see, they all pay less than Mc Donalds!!! I worked there for a year and received 3,21€ per hour and as a Physical Therapist they pay 3€ per hour. Don't know if this is some sort of joke, but I don't think it's even funny 😑

Perhaps take this time to focus on yourself and what makes you happy the most. Take up a small job somewhere, doesn't necessarily have to be relevant to your career, and give yourself as much "me" time as possible.I dropped out of college at 19 with no idea what I would do. I ended up briefly moving back in with my parents and took on a full time job at the airport until I had enough to do something different. I met my future husband around this time and took off to live with him in the UK for 4 months. This gave me loads of time to figure out what I really wanted out of life. I definitely didn't want to continue working low end retail. I ended up going back to school three years later and got my degree in game design, and now I'm comfortably working in the game industry doing what I love! My way was a little unconventional, but in the end everything worked out. You may feel stressed now, but you're gonna find something that works for you eventually. It may take some time, but sometimes the best things come in unexpected ways. Best of luck with your future endeavors!

i totally believe the good things happened so unexpectedly. i try not to think about it too much but sometimes i feel like i should have it all figured out by now. i know its ridiculous i just have to go with the flow and just let it happen. thank you so much for your comment😊

I've recently just began doubting myself. I want to help people because that's a passion of mine I'm on my second year of uni and I'm studying Bio. I love science and math and wanted to go into med school to become a doctor but now Idk anymore. I know I want something to do with science and math, and something that can help others. I know bio is right for me but idk what I want to be or what steps to follow. You're not alone. My advice is set your goals straight. What subject do you love? Does helping others matter a lot? What kind of help would you like to offer? Is the path you've been taking right for you? That helps narrow your options. I'm thinking of doing research or labs, I know it will help multiple people in the long run even if it's not personal and I'm happy enough with that. I still would like to become a doctor and be more personal but I think both could bring me the same happiness. If you're still unsure then pick up some new hobbies, anything you've never tried but find interesting. Watch shows you've never thought you'd watch. Expand your world. That's how I found out bio was right for me by the time I graduated high school. I hope this helps 😊

My advice to all of you is to get a business degree until you figure it out. It will give you a good foundation and you can always fall back on it. while you study you can get random jobs or internships to help you figure it out.
