When is it ACTUALLY ok to have unprotected sex when on birth control?

So about two months ago, I was put on a low dose birth control. The doctor says that it only takes 7 days until you can have unprotected sex, but my sister says it takes 6 months before it's fully preventive. 
My boyfriend and I both really want to have sex tonight because we haven't seen each other in a while. He likes to finish inside, not out. 
Is it ok to do that??

If your doctor, a medical professional, said 7 days I'm not sure why you're taking random people's opinions on it. If you'd rather wait a month, that's fine, but yes you're protected after 7 days.

2 months is fine. You can have sex. 
The doctor is right. It takes only 7 days. A lot of people like to wait more (one full cycle) but that doesn't really do much. But you're okay.

Listen to what your doctor says and read about your specific brand you're taking. Some say after 2 weeks it's fully effective and some say after the first full cycle
