What questions to ask on a hospital tour

What kind of questions should I ask at my hospital tour?

I remember asking if I could keep the baby in my room at all times (didn't want him in a nursery or taken for any testing, I wanted it all done in my room) and what they would provide me for laboring like balls, bath tub or shower, the hallways to walk etc. You can ask how many patients do the nurses over see and how many anesthesiologists are on incase you need something for pain and what the procedure is for that. Make sure the nicu is close and where you'd go for c section is close just in case. How many people can be in the room, how long will you stay in L&D; after delivery and visiting hours. So many things haha

I brought my mom who has 35 years experience as a L&D; nurse so she asked all the questions... am I allowed to walk during labor? Tubs/showers ok during labor? Constant monitoring or on and off during labor? How many people are allowed in the delivery room? Do they have any special birthing equipment (exercise balls)? Do they leave IVs in with saline locks? What types of classes are offered and when? What level of special care do they offer (NICU type)? If they don't have the level of care my baby needs, where would it go to get it? Will the baby be taken out of the room? If so, for what? She asked about some of the equipment they used but I wasn't familiar with any of it so I don't remember. The rest of the tour was just walking around, showing rooms and such. The nurses pretty much answered all the questions without us asking. They probably  know what you want to know.
