Born on his due date!

As I sit here in complete silence holding my little nugget I thought it would be a perfect time to put this into writing. On Thursday 8/17/17 I went to my last scheduled doctor's appointment hoping for some progress from the previous week, only to be told that I hadn't changed any and was scheduled to be induced Wednesday 8/23. I was bummed but somewhat relieved to know when I was going to finally meet my son. Well overnight on 8/19 when I got up to pee for the millionth time I noticed I was having some cramping. I hadn't previously had any signs or symptoms of labor so I just kind of brushed it off. When I actually woke up around 8am I was very clearly having inconsistent cramping and contractions. I started timing them but eventually stopped since there wasn't really anything to them. I tried taking a nap but kept getting woken up by them. By the time my husband got home from work around 2:30pm I was steadily having them every 6 minutes or so, lasting around 45 seconds to a minute. I had a bowel movement (sorry tmi) and whenever I wiped my vagina I was having my bloody show. I called L&D; and was told to hold off on coming in. We listened to that advice for maybe 30 minutes before my husband made the executive decision to go to the hospital. Luckily I listened instead of trying to be a little badass because shit got real on the way there. I was contracting every 3 minutes or so and whenever we arrived at the hospital I was dilated to a 5 and completely effaced. I begged for an epidural (they're freaking amazing! 🙌🏻) and afterwards when they checked me I was at a 9. Within 3 hours of checking in I was pushing and within 5 pushes my son was here! Born at 10:25pm and weighing 6lbs 6ozs. I've never been so in love!
