Birth Story

Woke up the 19th and noticed that I had lost my plug. I know this can happen and mean nothing so I didn't get my hopes up. Went about my day as usual. Went to lunch with a friend and ate spicy food. I felt off all day but I figured it was just to being close to my due date. I got home and laid down for a bit and then decided to take a bath to try to relax. Got in around 4:45 and was out by 5:20ish. Dried off and noticed that no matter how much drying it seemed to still be wet down there. I went ahead and put panties on and got dressed. I went to the living room and my panties were wet within 2 minutes. I told my husband I think my water may have broken. He didn't believe me of course because I had thought it had been leaking for a while so he went and got in the shower. By the time he got out my water had completely broken and soaked two pairs of panties and pants before I stopped changing them so we got our youngest ready and packed up the car and came to the hospital. We got all settled in by 7:30 and they start pitocin because I wasn't contracting on my own or dilating anymore. I was about 4cm and 70% thinned. They checked me again at 10 pm and I still hadn't made any change so they gave me an epidural and upped my pitocin. I dilated to about a 5 by 1 am. Shortly after that I felt quite a bit of pressure. Nurse said she would empty my bladder and then check me. She got the stuff ready and came over and lifted my sheet and baby was crowning! My epidural was so strong I didn't even realize. Everyone went into panic mode. They called the doctor but he didn't make it because with my next contraction she was out. They didn't even have time to take my bed apart! Emmy arrived at 1:39 am 6lbs 10.7 oz and 20 in long!
