Mommas out there!
Hey there :)
So a couple weeks ago my 8 year old brought to my attention that it was really sore behind her right ear. She freaked out if you came near it and was red. No fever etc. I looked and the lymph node behind that ear looked swollen all along that bone that's there, and there was an obvious bump. I gave her Benadryl thinking maybe bug bite or something but the Benadryl didn't do anything. I took her to urgent care the following evening after work and it didn't hurt her anymore and the redness had gone down some. Doc at urgent care said it's "probably" just an inflammed lymph node that could be from a million things. Helpful right? Well this is what it looked like that day:
The doc said with no other symptoms she didn't wanna prescribe an antibiotic which I completely respect. No need to pump her something she doesn't need. So she prescribed prednisone and just said keep an eye on it and to give her the prednisone to reduce any inflammation that may be going on. Well... prednisone was a no go 🙄 it literally made her vomit the second she would swallow it. She can be dramatic with meds but never that dramatic.
I happened to check it this morning and it's still there. Except it feels like 2 separate bumps now, one above the other. Still no more redness or pain. Idk what it felt like originally since she wouldn't let me touch it but when I felt it this morning both "bumps" felt hard. You can't see the bumps as clearly as you could before but you can definitely feel it. That whole part behind that ear still looks swollen compared to the other side however if you feel it it's not squishy it feels hard like your wrist joint feels ( sorry idk what that round boney piece of your wrist is called or what else to compare these ear bumps to lol)
I didn't get an updated pic yet but I was curious if anyone had opinions? TIA
