Child Counseling HELP

Brittany

I have a 7 yr old boy, O. I have been in the military for 3 yrs and have been gone intermittently. I have won custody of O twice. I am in grad school. I am a newlywed, married Oct 2016. I am 6 months pregnant. It's a lot. O has been through a lot too (neglectful father). He does well in school, but talks a bit too much. He has done karate, T-ball, and is currently in tap. I have been taking him to child counseling for about a month now...initially to address separation issues, but now to explore tantrums and help smooth the bond between O and his stepdad (not a good relationship there). However, it seems as though counseling tantrums turn into all night tantrums, stressing me out while pregnant, making my husband and me fight, causing us to miss tap, causing us to do homework late (me not at all), eat dinner late, on and on. Obviously I want what's best for my son and to have a cohesive family, but it just seems as if counseling is too much for us to handle. Has anyone else been through child counseling and gotten a big benefit from it? I'm worried for all involved. Thank you for your help. Plz be kind...stressed out Mama here.
