Car seat?? I AM SO CONFUSED!

Hello everyone! I am a FTM, almost 30 weeks pregnant! I haven't bought anything YET, still making tons of researches and trying to decide what is best for us and our little boy!

So, I am looking a lot at car seats/strollers combos!

My question is : do I need to buy a car seat for infant/newborn (which it would last for a short time) AND a car seat that can last longer until he is going to be 2-3 years old?

I keep seeing car seats for INFANTS and for TODDLERS!

Shouldn't be a car seat that I can buy and use it since he is born until he will be a few years old???

Uh, I am so confused!

Anyway, I would love to hear your options/opinions, what worked for you and it is noooooot insanely expensive!
