Which method would you suggest for experiencing a miscarriage? Please feel free to comment

I just went to the doctor today. According to the date of the first day of my last period the baby should have measured around 8-9 weeks but the gestational sac just measured around 5 weeks. I was told it was a blighted ovum. Basically the sac is there, but nothing in it. They said it's too early to be for sure, and to come back in 2 weeks. I'm preparing myself for the worst and was just wondering who else has been through a miscarriage. When I go back in 2 weeks I may be faced with the decision to miscarry if my body hasn't done it naturally in the next 2 weeks. I have read that natural miscarriage can hurt more than actual child birth itself, so that scares me. I haven't done much research about the vaginal medication that helps things along and how painful it is compared to natural. I was thinking the D and C route but there is a tiny 1 in 1000 chance it could cause scarring in the uterus. In insight would be greatly appreciated.
