is it expensive to get blood work done to see if you're preggers?

Check with your local hospital, sometimes you don't have to go through a doctor. I went to the local hospital here and you can do it through the lab and it just cost $11. They don't run it through insurance. Worth a shot to check!

I agree with Kayla, insurance SHOULD cover it. But you can always check with your OBGYN just to be sure ins covers it, and if not the price you would have to pay

price for a quanatitive hgc blood test which measures the exact amount of hcg ... is 350.00$ .(thisbwas the price for the test at the hospital I worked at) .. and that's before insurance. price for the simple yes or no answer blood test is much cheaper.

You can always call your local lab and get the "direct costs" of the tests plus blood draw fee. Then you can also call your insurance company to see if it's covered in your plan. 
There are three tests we do at my facility: hcg urine qualitative (yes/no test), hcg qualitative serum (blood yes/no test), and a hcg quantitative (a how much hcg is in your blood). Usually (at least in my facility), one of the qualitative tests need to be run with a yes answer before the quantitative tests are run. The hospital qualitative test (blood/urine are run in the same cartridge) are nearly identical to many of the buy in bulk tests I've seen here. 
Quantitative testing is usually reserved to see if the HCG levels are going up or down if there is threat of a miscarriage. 
Now, I work in an ER that's how we do things, the patient population we see, and might be way different in the OB/GYN primary care.
