Vaccines!

Ok seriously in the biggest yet mind numbing debate of my life. Whether to vaccinate or not? SERIOUSLY YOU HAVE A CHOICE! Africa 500,000 children died of Measels in 2003 alone because they don't have access. But you choice not to, ok? (www.unicef.org). Oh it's big Pharm making money! In 1967 we had 26 vaccine manufactures number drop to 17 in the 80's because the profit margin is so small. How is making something people would onky have to take once to 4 times in a life time profitable? Also I can't believe I have to say this, you may have conceived, carried and raised your child but saying "my child" all the time makes you an idiot on all kinds of levels. "Your child" is a member of society, a growing member who wait for this... become an adult who will participated in society. Isn't that our jobs to raise our children to become successful members of this society. Contribute with his/her talents, give to the needy and show compassion . Well part of that is community diseases we have the power to control. We have the ability to help those who can't be vaccinated by vaccinating ourselves. Yes some have reaction but it is highly unlikely and rearer to develop long term effect than to catch the diseases themself. We are also forgetting a populations who was able to get vaccinated but then come down with an illness that makes the vaccine almost worthless, like cancer. We all know and lost people to cancer. This is a social problem not a rights issue. Let that sink in!
