how to prepare babys cereal?& solids advice
※mamas to babies who have already started solids※ I need your experienced knowledge!
our baby boy is 4.5 months. was breastfed but is now exclusively formula fed.
his pediatrician just told us that we could start giving him cereal. but then he said after cereal ( after on it for a few weeks) to go with veggies, then meats, then fruits.
in that order. is everyone's babys doctor recommending veggies, then meat and then fruits?
13 years ago with my oldest, they didnt really have a preferred method. we started with fruit but he still preferred veggies over the fruit, and hed hardly ever eat the stage 1 meats.
my question is (I totally forgot to ask Dr ) is... when starting cereal, should I use like 1oz of prepared formula in the bowl, and then add in cereal, to desired (soupy) consistency??? OR should I put in a specific amount of the cereal first (e.g 2tsp) and then add the formula to desired consistency?
I thought it'd be better to use like 1oz of formula, and THEN add in like a teaspoon or so of cereal that way hes still getting an oz of formula with the cereal.
does this sound right?
he's drinking 5-8oz of formula a feed, and up to 10oz at bedtime.
I know cereal (and any solids) is only complementary to his formula. like dessert, it comes after his feeds.
any advice or tips on how to prepare the cereal? what did you do? how many tsps/oz a day? once a day? split the one meal in half and do twice a day?
I'm thinking it would be good to offer this at "breakfast". and he can eat "breakfast" with his big brothers and sister in the morning before they go off to school.
