It's no coincidence that my husband and I want a child at the same time my three month old nephew is being put through a horrible process with DCF. I called the case worker today, though. We begin the long process of gaining custody on Monday afternoon. If we gain custody, we can legally adopt according to DCF because his parents aren't going to straighten up for him. And the sooner we can adopt him, the better because I want all visitation with his parents to stop ASAP. He will likely be taken into a foster home before the process with DCF is completed, but the case worker told me that even if that happens, we can still take him in once everything goes through.

Side note: My heart broke because my husband's grandma (who has custody of him for another three weeks) just asked me if she would be allowed to see him when we adopt him. She loves him so much.
