Nothing aftermarket should be between baby and the seat. Just tuck a blanket around them once they're buckled in.

You can but often bc it isn't manufactured as part of the car seat if anything were to happen your insurance/the car seat company may say you tampered with/added onto the car seat altering its safety features making them not liable for damages.
