Leonardo Da'Vinci said "He who does not punish evil commands it to be done." Do you agree or disagree? Why?

I mean look at how outspoken and proud nazis are now that a certain leader with similiar traits was elected

I agree/disagree. I agree with it for those who have the means to act but stand by and do nothing. I don't think it can work uniformly across all situations, as not everyone--particularly the victims themselves--may have the ability to sufficiently punish evil or to defend themselves.

I had to read it a few times because a comma was missing and I kept speed reading haha. But I do agree. Like with Charlottesville, trump didn't condemn or called out those who were in the wrong. He just generalized and vaguely said evil is wrong. He didn't say "hey you neo nazis, I do not agree with you and your very organized hate rally" but he also didn't say he agrees. It will just keep happening if nothing is done so I'm a way I think it does let hate growth in the long run.

I don’t believe in evil. I don’t think a reason people do bad things is because they’re just evil. I do think that if you don’t stop bad being done you’re just as bad.

Define "evil". Because true evil isn't nearly as common as people think. And faced with true evil, most can't help but be powerless, so it's not their fault for doing nothing.
