When should you start packing your hospital bag?

I packed mine at 34 weeks. here is what I packed catigorized into what I found out I didn't need versus needed. And a list of things I wish I had of brought when thinking back on it.   Things I brought and needed - slippers, stretchy pants, toiletries  (including a roll of my own tp because theirs was awful), breast pump, maternity pillow, hairties, extra clothes for husband, dry shampoo, chap stick, lotion, about 5 outfits for baby. (keep in mind I was a csection mommy woth preeclampsia so I was in the hospital nearly a week so all the baby outfits came in handy. And the dry shampoo because it was hard to shower every day with visitors constantly knocking at the door). Things I brought but didn't need - a book, headphones, makeup, pads (I severly underestemated the amount of bleeding I would have. The pads were no match for it. I just used the hospital ones). Things I wish I had of brought - lanolin, cooling gel bra inserts, storage bags for pump, more koney for my husband to eat (again, we were there longee than anticipated), more than one nursing bra, something for my husband to do when I had the baby (tablet to watch movies or something), and an extra phone charger

I packed a huge bag but honestly didn't end up using like 90% of the stuff I brought. You only need your purse, shower stuff and a hair tie for yourself. And for baby I literally only used a take home outfit. Most hospitals provide diapers, wipes, formula, blankets, hats, a pacifier, and bath stuff so you don't need any of that. Personally after delivery I strictly wore the hospitals robes, the disposable underwear they provide and all the pads/tucks/numbing spray etc that they give you. Lots of women like to take their own clothes but youre more than likely just going to bleed all over them so you might as well bleed in a hospital gown instead and spare your own clothes.
