Can newborns get head lice?

I had no idea my niece (6yrs) has lice and noticed it too late. She's been in contact with my 3 week old all day and is stayin with my mother and niece for the night.. she doesn't have a head full of hair, is there still a way for her to get lice? Should I have my daughter come back home?!

I'd go get her immediately! Yes they can get it just as well as any other child. She's probably too young for lice treatment so I'd call the doctor and ask about all natural treatments.

Go get her. They actually prefer less hair and clean hair so they can move easier. They also bite and carry diseases.

I don't think the lice would go for such a small amount of hair. If she did get them they would be super easy to see and eggs would be easy to remove. I'd get her regardless and wash all her belongings she took.

yes!! They will eat her scalp! my toddlers got impetigo from head lice and they spent time in the hospital. bring baby home asap.

I assume you brought her home!  If you haven't found a treatment yet, use a mixture of coconut oil and a few drops of tea tree oil (and rosemary if you have it or can get some! This is really good for lice treatment) and rub it on her scalp.  Rinse and then put more on and leave it on for at least a few hours.  (Put a towel under her head, it'll be fine.  I wouldn't be comfortable using plastic on a little one.).  This is the one use for essential oils that I really like aside from just scent use, lice do NOT like rosemary oil and tea tree oil is effective too.  Also, I would use this over any store bought lice products, I've been using TTO and other oils on my daughter since she was a couple weeks old, never had any adverse effects.  Just watch for redness, hives, etc. I used this on my daughter when I overheard that a couple older kids who had been helping in the infant room in the mornings had lice, just in case she had it too.  I didn't see any but 🤷🏻‍♀️ better safe than sorry imo.
