How do I go about this 😣

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and 2 weeks now. I know he loves me a lot and I love him a lot too. We have our normal fights like a lot of couples and I do tend to be a bit on the naggy side sometimes. So basically he said he wants to take a break. But I'm scared that breaks are just preludes to break ups but he said he doesn't wanna break up with me (hence the screenshots below) I tried pleading to him that we can work things out without taking a break and that I loved him so much and that I didn't wanna lose him with everything we have already. I just love him too much. But he still made up his mind to take the break. I just wanna know what you guys think.. what do u think he really wants? (Because I tried asking him that and you'll see in the messages attached what he says he wants but then later he said he doesn't know). I told him I'd give him his space but it's been killing me inside and I'm just scared in all honesty. Just a little extra background info that might help: [The break was mentioned/starter 2 days ago.
