Baby shower for second baby?

So I've heard that a lot of second time mommies don't have a baby shower for the second child, but they have a diaper shower? Kind of like celebrating the life of the baby and getting necessities not necessarily things you want to have for the baby. How true is this? I feel like just having a tiny shower and if people want to bring gifts or gift cards that would be best! How do second time moms feel about the whole shower thing??

I'm going to have a full on shower because my first is almost 8 and I have literally nothing left from when she was a baby so we have to get everything again. If you want a smaller shower I'm sure no one would have any problems with that

Around where I live, they call it a 'sprinkle'. Personally, I will not be having a shower since my children are 4 years apart with the same gender. My initial registry had all gender neutral items and I saved the most important. It's your decision on what you want to do. Whatever decision you make, may you have a happy, healthy baby.

The only reason I'm having one with my second is because my first was a boy and this ones a girl, and even though I told my mom I really didn't need one, she wanted to do one. So I'm letting her throw it. Lol it is a sprinkle like some other commenters have said.

I thought about doing a diaper shower because of having all the supplies with my first who was born last year, but mom's who have kids farther apart may do regular showers to get baby necessities that they no longer have. :) diapers are the biggest issue since we have to get two different sizes.

I had a shower with my second just 2 weeks ago 😋 it was awesome! My son is 5 and a half and we live in a different country so we wanted to celebrate here too!!!! You do what you want! It's your baby! Celebrations are fun anyway!!!

We have most everything we need from our first but still plan to have some sort of celebration... this one is just as special as the first. My mom and I were thinking that we would ask more for premade meals that we could freeze and eat once the baby comes instead of baby stuff 😉 and we will probably do a coed casual thing instead of just women like when my first was born

They are called sprinkles, and I've seen a lot of them lately. I just moved into a house so I'm doing a combined party of a housewarming and a shower. My family is turning into more of a shower but I think it's sweet. I was at a loss because this is my second child but my boyfriends first. His family is beyond excited mostly cause it is the first girl born in three generations.
