I just found out that I'm still closed at 40 weeks. We've known the baby would be 8 or 9 lbs but he hasn't descended into the pelvis and my doctor believes its because his head (and body) is too big to fit. And that's why I'm not contracting or dilating- because baby's head can't get in position to signal those things to happen. My doctor was very honest with me about having a very slim chance of delivering vaginally. I am scheduled to be induced Thursday as a final shot at labor but he said there's an 80% chance I will need a c section. It's a shock because I've been planning a natural hospital birth with no meds or interventions. Now that I've had time to process this I'm looking for opinions and experience of people who have had one. What was recovery like? Did you get to hold or see the baby immediately? And were you able to breastfeed okay? Those are my main concerns.
