When to stop waking baby to feed?

Does anyone allow their babies to wake up on their own? My mom told me she never woke any of her children to eat & that she let us wake up on our own. My baby is two weeks old & she's gained weight and is in really good shape. The times I've slept and forgotten to put an alarm, she went 4 hours before waking. I read that you should stop when your baby regains their birth weight.

The only time I set alarms were when we were at the hospital. Afterwards, when we saw our baby's doctor, he said let our son wake up when he's hungry. During the day the longest he's gone is 4 hours, at night we're lucky for 2-2 1/2 hours.

I find it so interesting that we all seem to be told different things by our doctors. I was told that she will wake when she is hungry. She would normally sleep for 3hrs max but one day it got to 4 and I freaked out and woke her. I guess there is no solid way to do things, its just so funny to me. Like we can send a man to the moon but we cant be sure whether to wake a baby for feeds or not 😂

I never woke my son up to feed him, he went right back to his birth weight pretty much before we even left the hospital. He slept in pretty good streches and let me know when it was time for food.

He gained his birth weight back at his last appointment so I let him sleep through the night. He is now 3 weeks. If he's hungry he lets me know and I can feed him right in bed since I breastfeed.

Our pediatrician told us to let her sleep and wake up on her own during the night since she's back up to birth weight and has gained well. Sometimes she sleeps for 7 hours, but most of the time she wakes me up between 2am&3am to feed. They said never exceed 4 hours between feedings during the day though, which is easy since she is hungry about every hour-2 hours during the day. She is breast fed during the day (and when she wakes me up during the night) and gets a 4 oz bottle of formula at night before sleep so I get some peace of mind that I know she ate well and isn't starving while sleeping.

I am the same way I was told at the hospital to wake up my baby every 3 hours I was stressing out the first 2 days as on top of that breast pumping so it got crazy and my mom told me the same thing to let my baby girl sleep until she wakes up. She was born with jaundice so I was not able to get her on the breast and now that she is able to latch on she gets super fussy and she only wants formula. 😞all my boobs do now is leak.

The first 2 and a half weeks I had to wake my son every 3 hours bc he hadn't gotten back to his birth weight. Once he did my pediatrician said he shouldn't go more than 5 hours without eating. I let him wake me now.. which is usually every 4 hours overnight and daytime about 3 hours. Last night he slept from 10:30-3:30!

I set my alarm for 4 hours just to check on him if he sleeps that long, but he hasn't yet at 3 weeks. My first baby was a SLEEPER. She slept 4 hours a night from day one and 6 hours a night by 3 weeks old! I let her sleep! Haha and she was born tiny too, only 6.12lb. She was fine. She's still a sleeper. My second barely slept day or night. It was rough. This baby is somewhere in between. He sleeps sleeps sleeps, but wakes like clockwork every 2-3 hours day and night, SOMETIMES sleeping almost 4. Anyways.. I say let the baby sleep and get your sleep in too! 😃
