Infant photoshoot is very expensive!!!!!

Paula

My baby is 1 week old today and when i looked for a photographer to take his pictures, they were charging me $450. So you know what I did? I took them myself!!! I don't understand why it's so expensive when infants are not even fussy when being photographed! $450 is way too expensive!! But I'm very happy with the result😊 I used Nikon d3400 to take this photos.

Youre paying for their time to set up their equipment, plan the shots, set up the shots, take the pictures, break down their equipment, travel time, pick out the best shots, edit them; also paying for their expertise and experience and artistry. Most photographers are small business owners and have to pay for their own equipment and props as well, which isn't cheap. Anyways, that is why, lol. Cute baby.

I hate digital images. I have so many albums because i love to actually flip through them. I'm 23. My husband kept making fun of how many I was buying, until they filled up, and now we need more albums. I have pictures that I don't have albums to put them in 😂

it's because people think they have access to the CD at all times pretty much. even though computers don't have CD drives anymore. and sadly a lot og people want the images for social media and that's about it now.

I believe you. It's ridiculous though. And doesn't make much sense.

I'm a professional photographer! The amount of time that goes into any photo shoot is insane. My newborn shoots are also $450 and honestly, that's it's a bit on the low end for where I'm living (Southern California). Many photographers in my area charge double that. But you get what you pay for. I go to my clients home for newborn shoots so that the child is in a safe, home environment rather than exposing them to possible germs. I dedicate a lot of time and energy to creating beautiful images and my newborn shoots are a good 2-3 hours long as well because not all babies are cooperative. Plus they need breaks to eat and have their diaper changed. There's a lot more that goes into it than people think lol

Love the pic! I'm a newborn photographer too. I'm just starting out but the first thing I learned was how much effort goes into newborn photography. Maternity photography is much easier and less intense but still takes like 1-2 hours shoot time and for me about 4-5 hours of editing time (I edit every picture that's good usually 80-200 pictures)

Creatives deserve more credit and to be actually paid a living wage. I cannot understand why people will pay huge amounts for other things but not something like photography or graphic design.

I'm a photographer and it was my career when I was trying to balance being a single mom of two kids alone..... it may seem expensive but it's usually the persons career... and you get what you pay for! You did however do a great job with your photos :)

You're welcome!! Just a little tip (if you want to take it of course!!) photo #2 and #5 try and ease up on the contrast.... it will soften the photo and baby's skin :)

Professioanl photographers are expensive because they're, well, professionals. Keep in mind that JCPennys and places like that pay minimum wage to some kid off the street with no *real* training usually to snap a camera and then they layer on cruddy effects and print sub-par images (I dare you to compare prints from a legit lab to those from quick kiosks and mall stores). Photographers are typically small business owners paying for really good gear and then learning how to use it because it's not the camera that makes good pictures, it's the person using. Then you add set up times, insurance costs, props (if used) and then hours upon hours of editing. So yea, it costs a lot. Also, newborn photography takes lots of time even if baby isn't fussy because there are lots of safety protocols for different poses that you simply don't want us to ignore. Anyone can call themselves a newborn photographer but if they aren't careful your baby could get hurt which is why so few truly specialize in it (at least where I live).I mean, you wouldn't hire a mechanic, doctor, or lawyer based only on price. You hire them based on experience and success as well.

there is a 9.99 sitting fee, but I have the member perks card $30 good for 2 years so that 9.99 was free. Then I got the package that was $100, but I had a 50% off coupon. Bit you wouldn't have the buy the package, they have specials scary so ofwnt where each set of prints is 3.99

Ours are costing us $600, and that's discounted since she's a family friend. I dont mind laying that because A) her photos are amazing B) she will come to us and spend the whole day here and C) I know others will charge more. This is not only her livelihood but her career and main source of income. I would much rather support her career/my money go to a local small business than a big box store.

My baby didn't sleep through any of her photo shoots 😂I wanted some with her sleeping, but she was always wide awake lol. I even tried giving her a bath to see if she'll sleep, but nope. Still wide awake. (Still well behaved though 😊)
