I got confused today and wanted to know your thoughts and experiences.

I had a baseline AFC done via ultrasound in April and had a count of 15, which the doc considered great for my age (39). I went again today in late August and his colleague, another doctor at the same practice, only got 5. The number is concerning, and the discrepancy is downright confusing.

Has anyone experienced a dramatic decline in AFC in a few months time? It seems crazy to change that much, no?

Today's doctor had trouble finding my left ovary and any follicles but he said the machines are great and it's unlikely there would be such a huge discrepancy... so maybe it had to do with the test taken at really different times of my cycle. (The first was follicular phase before ovulation, today is 9dpo so luteal phase). The ovary he did see showed that it had ovulated (you could see clot in the dominant follicle and then smaller antrals around as well) but it seems the other side was totally peaced out. So odd.

Any thoughts or similar experiences?
