is my sons umbilical cord stump infected?

i changed him after his feeding, and i noticed that his stump was coming off, does it look infected, or is this normal? FTM.

My little boys looks like that too. I was worried about it especially because this guy won't stop peeing when I change his diaper and getting pee on it. He went to the doctor yesterday though and she said it looked good.

That looks pretty normal. Like other posters mentioned, I would be concerned if there was a foul odor involved. My son's came off when he was 8 days old in the middle of the night during a diaper change. I freaked out and then googled a bunch of images that reassured me it was normal (which I then had confirmed at the pediatrician's office 2 days later). Keep it clean and dry - and the rest will fall off in no time.

My son's looked this way, and we had no issues with his at all. Keep on keeping it dry and just let it do its thing. As long as there's no foul odor, it should be fine.

It's preparing to fall off. My daughters just fell off yesterday, looked just like that. Give it another day or two and keep things off of it like clothes and what not.

i think that's probably normal but i wouldn't touch it, that might introduce bacteria and actually infect it
