Cramps vs contractions?

Would anyone describe their early contractions as mild period cramps? I haven't felt Braxton Hicks so I have no idea what to compare it to.

My contractions really ache on my lower back, and my Braxton hicks hurt mostly on the top half of my belly. That's how I tell the difference

Eh, my BH are mostly just pressure and tightening, but sometimes in the middle of the night they have a bit of the "period cramp" feeling. It wakes me up and is really uncomfortable. If they are consistent and/or becoming more painful, I would call your doctor.
