What type of dress!

Question

So my husband & I are going to a family wedding this November, I just want to be prepared & know what style, color dress would be best. We aren't in the wedding just going as guest. I have a black lace dress that is about knee length with long sleeves I was considering wearing. Just need thoughts and opinions haven't been to a wedding I wasn't in and already told what to wear!

The venue and time of day make a huge difference. Also, you can ask how formal it is.

I wouldn't wear the black dress, some brides would be deeply offended by that. 
Unless it's at night, then it would be okay. Just lighten it up with a jacket or scarf and accessories.
