Do you have any common lies you tell to tourists to freak them out?

I'm curious. Share how you fuck with tourists. 
Drop bears and hoop snakes are as serious as a heart attack and I will not have you slandering them on my poll.

I don't know about trying to freak them out necessarily, but I like to say if they keep a look out on the shore, they might see a northwestern tree octopus. Then I go on to tell them about the history of them, how they are now protected, which is a very controversial move since they are the main food source for the Sasquatch, an equally endangered local creature. At that point most people realize they've been fooled, but occasionally I turn someone into an activist for an imaginary saltwater amphibious octopus :)

I live in Australia so yes! Although a lot of our animals are deadly so no need for lies 😉 but frequently I say drop bears are a thing. Also don't swim in any body of water because giant sharks or crocodiles. All spiders are poisonous. Snakes will chase you and kill you. Kangaroos and koalas are vicious (this is actually true). Oh and we all say "g'day mate" or "cor what a Sheila"

I've told a few tourists to watch out for the mooses and bears, they will now be forever scared of scandinavians thanks to me xD

Cattle, sheep and goats will herd children away at night and they never come home. Owls carry off small children. Deer (or "Bambi") love to eat dead animals (they actually do). Horses have a mildew on their hair that causes nailbed infection. Any donkey will try to mount you and they know how to get your pants off. There's tiny pink fish in the stock ponds that will swim up your urethra. Coyotes are always watching you and you're always surrounded. Yes! You can push over a cow while it sleeps! Please go try!
