He's got Herpes!!!!

Ok so I've been seeing this guy for a while now. Before we decided to have relations with each other he told me he has herpes. I'm guessing HSV 1. He said he doesn't really get flare ups. We are extra careful we use condoms but ive been feeling a little more scared cause people say even if we use condoms and he has do flare ups I can still get it. But my doc said only if he has flare up cause it's skin to skin I really do love him and I want this to go far but we both want kids. I have a doc appointment next week for a check up and a consultation. Has anyone else been in my shoes And if so what did you do
