Childhood obesity?

Do you think childhood obesity has become a public health issue that needs to be addressed more vigorously? I wonder if part of it is the terrible diet (speaking in terms of the United States- I know Europeans have much better food laws) between fast food and school lunches being awful, in addition to all of the growth hormones in our food, tons of sugar, and too much processed food. I see so many posts on here of babies and toddlers where the child is massively bigger than the average size for their age and it makes me ill. It's one thing to have some baby chub but when your baby/toddler is wearing clothes 2-3 sizes larger than their age then maybe there should be some concern toward getting them to a healthier size? I also wonder about the "can't overfeed a breastfed baby" in this day and age. I think in the past that was probably true but given the average adults diet now a days I wonder how true this really still is. If the mom is eating crap and the breastfed baby is a massive beast, I tend to think you can overfeed that child. I'm not sure why having a massively fat baby is considered cute- to me I feel bad for that child. The standard American diet (SAD) leads to so many health problems in adulthood if you read a lot of the current research, that I wonder if that is starting to trickle down younger and younger to some of these babies.
