For kids under 10. Do you allow your kids to watch tv or play with a tablet everyday throughout the day? Or do you see it as something earned for good behavior?

My son is 4 and he has to earn to play with the tablet and he only watches tv in the mornings and he to earn it later in the day. I don't want my son to be dependent on electronics and things. My mom used to Lock me outside when I was younger lol. Opinions?

My son is only 9 months but I have a huge family... 20 nieces and nephews... so I've watched many different parenting styles within our family. To each their own, but personally I'm not going to give my son a lot of screen time. He occasionally watches baby Mozart now, but it's really only been a handful of times and when I NEED to get something done. He's not getting iPads/tablets. Not watching shows or playing on my phone. It drives me insane when a kid starts fussing and a parent shoves a screen in their face. Like someone else said "kills creativity." I've actually already gotten so many comments from friends and strangers about how my son is such a good baby because he knows how to entertain himself. I'm big on books and imagination, so as he gets older I will find other ways to occupy him when he's bored, but TV and games will be very limited.

I don have children yet but after watching my nieces and nephews I don't think they're necessary. I have one sister who uses them for things like long car rides, stuff like that. And another sister who shoves an iPad in my nieces face always. My niece has no interest in the outside world what so ever, she won't go anywhere without it, can't even sit through a family dinner/party without it. So in moderation everything is fine IMO, but I probably won't have tablets, iPads, whatever, for quite a while with mine. And what the heck do you get a 10 year old for Christmas or birthdays that already has an ipad, computer, tv, etc?! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Yes I do , but the tablet is full of educational games and he only gets on it for a certain amount of time through out the day

ur son will depend on electronics anyway. because we live in a very techy world. I was exposed to electronics growing up in the 80's. my dad owned a computer business. (yep, the early world of IT). as a result of my exposure,  I built my owm computer at the age of 12. I'm 33 and own my own business. and am quite successful. being exposed to electronic devices is not automatically bad. leaving them watch tv all day or play games on tablets, that's a different story. don't plop UR child in front of tv or tablet and let them stay on it for hours. get involved.  on tv, play educational channels. on tablet, make tablet kid friendly with lots of educational games that will expand imagination and skills. electronic devices are wonderful,  but just handing them to a child and going about UR day is what ruins the child. our daughter is 10.5 months old and she knows to slide the phone to the right and answer calls from dadda. she knows to trace the password pattern and unlock it. I'm planning on teaching our daughter the same way my father did with me- be involved in all electronic devices and built their interest in it. she will be building computers from scratch by 12 years old.

I'm not a mother, but for my niece (who is 3) we let her watch TV whenever there's nothing else to do, but she's not allowed to play on any kind of tablet/iPad etc until she's a little older.
