When is it safe to leave your child home alone?

My parents let me stay home alone while they were running Aaron's, at work, etc, when I was 11 years old. Is this too young? When did you leave your kids at home?

my sister and I were 6 and 7. but we grew up very differently than US kids. we took multiple regular buses to school  (on our own at 6 years old). we grew up with a key around our neck. mom was working 8 am till 6 pm. we got up, made breakfast for her and for us and left to school. came home around 1 pm. eat, showered,  did homework and went out to play, till 9 pm.. we were cooking full meals before being 12 years old. we had no school zones, school buses, school cross guards. no ac in the house or school..we matured faster then most kids here in US..

I think it all depends on maturity. Like my mom would leave me home alone with my little brothers from the age of 10 and up, but I knew what to do and was very mature for my age, but she'd never leave my youngest brother home alone until he was 13, because he wasn't mature enough at all. But I think some states have it where you can't legally leave your kid home alone until they're a certain age anyway

I was left at 5 😂 I had shitty parents but I say mature enough. Start with quick trips to the store and go from there. I think 10-12 is a good range to start depending on the kid

my oldest is 13 and I have left him once. I'm one of those parents that like to have my kids with me at all times so I know their safe . not that our home isn't safe or anything because it is.

Ive been left home alone for things like errands since I was about eight. I have always been very mature tho. My sister is almost twelve and my parents don't even let her stay by herself for five minutes because God is she immature.

Depends on the children's maturity and where you live, safe neighborhood and such. My mom left my bro and I at home - my bro was probably 12 I would've been 8, my grandparents and aunt didn't live far away and we lived in the burbs. She was more concerned about us killing each other than someone killing us.😂
