Baked goods??

Question

So I'm a SAHM and I'm really into baking foods. And just recently I've discovered you can sell baked goods on etsy.. just wondering if any of you ladies sell stuff and have tips to get me started??

I have experience with both a bakery business and etsy! A lot of this is assuming you're in the US but I'll try to help. One of the most important things is to know the laws where you live. For example, I had to have my kitchen inspected by the department of agriculture, had to get a food license, and then I had to get a sales tax license. I also had to collect, report, and pay sales tax on any baked goods I sold. It can be a lot of work, but don't take a shortcut when it comes to the laws in your area. You can get in a lot of trouble if you get caught. 
You would also be an entrepreneur so you'll need to report your income and pay taxes on it. Where I live I have to collect and report both kinds of taxes quarterly. 
Keep a record of everything. Don't just consider this a "hobby" because the government won't see it that way. Etsy is super easy to work with and is great for anyone starting out!
