Do you believe video games desensitize?

It's been scientifically proven that violent video games can make a person more violent but what's worse is that some games feature sexual assault and rape. There was a topic not too long ago that talked about a robot that had a "rape" setting and everyone seemed to find that disturbing. I don't understand why playing a game where you are acting out something so disgusting is any different. Even if the person claims to know "it's just a game" there's no way those images aren't getting seared into your mind and there's no way it's not causing you view women in a degrading way. Games where you're brutally killing people are the same. They shouldn't even be allowed in my opinion.
