Should women be able to rely on the government for £ for a third child?

Just food for thought really. Nothing against Kate Middleton but here in the UK women are not allowed to claim for child tax credits if they have a third child unless the child was born as a result of rape or the child was conceived in a coercive and controlling relationship. This means that women who are in current abusive and coercive and controlling relationships (incredibly hard and can be dangerous to leave) cannot receive any financial assistance for having more than 2 children. Note: people who work and are on a low wage are eligible to claim.

Kate Middleton has money I doubt she’s getting benefits lol. In Ireland every child gets a monthly allowance until the age of 18 but not sure how much it is or if it’s enough but it’s something to put towards them.

In Australia you can apply for some type of benefit for every child you have. If you're poor, you get a child pension. If you're wealthier, you can apply to have some of your partners tax paid to you as a weekly wage. 
From my knowledge, the payments change once the youngest child is 7? Because by then all your kids should be in school and you should be able to work during school hours and start supporting yourself. 
But if you just keep spitting out 100 kids, then I suppose you'll never be expected to go back to work. There's no cap on the amount of kids you can have. 
In some ways I think you guys have it right with cutting the benefits at 3 kids to stop welfare bludgers from popping out kids for the sake of it. But in another way I don't think a child should live in more poverty than he was already going to just because he was unlucky enough to be the third born. He didn't ask to be born, and now he has to suffer... I don't know... tough one.

I don't think they should be able to rely on it but the UK laws are so so wrong. How dare the government say you have to prove you have been raped to claim? so you've been raped, you've gone through a pregnancy and if you can't support it financially you have to do the worst form of begging for it by PROVING you have been raped. How on earth can you prove that?! In most of these situations 1. it is the child that misses out and 2. it actually costs more to.implement then it does to just give it out universally. People are so much more bothered of taking an extra £40 off parents but don't give two Fks about Starbucks, Google and Vodafone avoiding millions in tax. This topic winds me up no end

What do you mean by financial assistance? Like the government gives you money every month JUST because you have a child? Here in the US we just get a tax credit, and you can claim up to 3 kids. and all that does is take off a certain amount of money per child from your taxable income (aka, you pay less in taxes at the end of the year).
