Freedom of Expression?
My mum has lots of makeup, and wears it all the time. But she recently bought this gorgeous liquid eyeliner that I pointed out we were buying black nail polish. You can probably tell I am going slightly emo. Anyways, she looked for a while whilst I studied my new polish. I didn't think she would actually buy it, she already has some expensive eyeliner. But she picked up the exact one I pointed out and put it in our cart. I've been staring at it every morning while she did her perfect winged eyeliner. I occasionally ask her if I can borrow it, but she just says "Once you're in high school, you can wear whatever you want" This REALLY hit a nerve because my birthday was the day before I started 8th grade. This means that I'm 14 in eighth grade, so I'm the age of most freshmen, but I STILL can't wear eyeliner. I have acne pretty lightly, and I don't think eyeliner can cause more acne or blackheads, so why not? I go to a public school, so there's no dress code or anything. So why can't I just use it once? Any moms out there, could you explain to me why you do this? And what about freedom of expression? Why is yoo such a hippokripy huh, womun?!?
