I just had my first baby 4 weeks ago so I'm considering all my birth control options before I go back to the doctor. I want something effective and something I don't have to think about every day. I think an IUD would be best, but I've had Mirena before and had issues with it. About a year after I got Mirena inserted, I started getting ovarian cysts. I only found out because one ruptured and sent me to the ER in excruciating pain. I continued having cysts almost every month until I had the Mirena removed. I also had random intense cramps in my uterus that would stop me in my tracks. Otherwise, the Mirena was effective, stopped my periods, and had no other side effects. I'm on the fence about whether or not I should get another IUD considering my previous experience with the ovarian cysts. I know that I should really discuss this more with my doctor, but I wanted to see if anyone else has any first hand experience with different IUDs or experienced different side effects, etc.
