ok to have a baby shower ?

What are your thoughts on a baby shower ? This is my fourth child .. but it has been ten years since my last was born !

Hmmm it depends on your crowd. Because it's been 10 years I say go for it although it's not "proper etiquette". 
Don't throw it yourself though.

You can do what you want. Just don't get upset if people don't attend. Baby showers are typically for your first child   
I personally don't like when people have them for their 2nd, 3rd, etc because I don't feel I need to be dishing out for gifts when couples decide to have more and more children. But that's how I feel about it so it's more a personal preference.

go for it. why should it matter whether it's your first baby or your tenth, you still won't have absolutely everything you need and family and friends should want to celebrate with you. You can also have what is called a "Sip and See" after baby is born instead. basically it becomes more of an opportunity to meet the new bub and shower the baby with gifts instead of you if that makes sense. You can serve champagne or wine or something since you won't be pregnant anymore. I did one for my sister and we just gave a window of time people could come by and stay as long or as little as they liked so everybody wasn't there all at once.
