Is a college degree Associate and Bachelor really necessary?

Question

I've seen people with no degrees live in nice luxury apartments waterfront and I've seen some live in rich neighborhoods and I've seen some barely make it in bad living conditions. I think it depends on alot of things just not how much education they have. Let me know what you think

I don't think it's necessary but I can say without a doubt I am a different person for going to college then I would have been not having gone to college. not career wise but college has opened my mind. i think the experiences you encounter in college can shape who you are, it really taught me to think for myself and question things not in a bad way but out of curiosity instead of believing everything I read or hear people say. instead of going along with the crowd.

I don't think the degree is always necessary, but I do think an education of some kind will help make you successful.  I have two years in college to be a licensed paramedic, but don't hold a degree, and do just fine.  Without my education, I'd have very little to offer an employer as far as skills.

Well... I used to be a job coach, transition coordinator, and educational assistant in a transition program. Now I'm a staff coordinator.
For me personally, my college (Associates) helped me get my job now. I'm still in school, now for psychology. That's just how my path wound up. I don't regret going to college or being in college one bit. It gives me something to do and I'm ultimately going to become a clinical psychologist for the Deaf, That's just me.
A student I had graduated high school and got a job in our transition program. He's now a line cook at his job. He has no college. My brother is also successful in his position and has no college.
My brother in law went to school for one thing, he didn't like doing it as a living and chose a different path. He's now successful.
It's all about perspective. Honestly if you feel like you don't need it don't want to then it's fine. There's are huge stigma that college gets you good jobs when really there is no promise of it. My friend who has her MBA is working as a front desk assistant in an apartment complex. So again, perspective.

My college degree has definitely helped me lead the life I'm living--I really wouldn't have gotten these opportunities with the current programs I'm doing without it. It all depends on your desires, connections, and lifestyle? What do YOU want? And would college help or do you not need it? And I would ask people in the field and not assume--some people just get lucky.

I don't have a degree. My job isn't the best, but pays really well. We have a big home, and we have everything we need. It does take some saving to get stuff done. I personally don't see the point in paying for university, I work (in a factory) doing the same job with people who have degrees and went to private schools.
