Is Hispanic/Latino a race or ethnicity or what?

Question

I don't mean to sound ignorant, I just don't know. On social media I see a lot of people arguing about what it means to be hispanic and latino and spanish, and I just use all those terms interchangeably because I'm confused. So can someone once and for all explain to me the difference between the three?
*Update* Are Brazilians Latino even though they speak Portuguese? And is Latin America just South America?

From what I understand:
Hispanic refers to people who speak Spanish. 
Latino refers to people from Latin America.
Spanish is someone from Spain.

Hispanic means someone who comes from a Spanish speaking group or area. That means all of Spain and most of South America and Mexico excluding Brazil and various indigenous language speakers. 
Spanish is a nationality and means from Spain. 
Latino/Latina/Latinx is someone who has mixed indigenous and Spanish ancestry. For example most Mexicans are Latinx, but not all. There are also black, white, and Asian and fully indigenous Mexicans who would not fall into this category.

Amanda said it already, but to add... no, Hispanic + Latino are not a race. They're considered ethnicities.

I believe Latin America refers to both north and South American Latin cultures. 
But I may be wrong because I've heArd it used for both South America and North America
