Can i color over blond highlights?

Question

A few months ago my hairdresser dyed my hair my natural color to cover my greys and also put foils in my hair. Now after washing it more and more they have become increasingly more blond and I really don't like them but can't afford to get it dyed professionally right now. If I attempt to dye it myself with a box store dye would this work or completely mess my hair up? If it would be ok to do my own what color would be best to use? Thanks!

If you have a sallys near you, get a toner. I am cosmetologist, I also work at a licensed beauty supply (only for professionals) please dont use box color. That stuff is the worst and if you are going darker, it will be a real pain if you ever want to remove it.... Also depending on HOW light your hair is, (the photo isn't loading on my phone) you may need to use a filler... if you don't tone it instead. If you just throw a dark color over blonde (like some people are saying is okay) it can turn green... 😩

If you have a local beauty store like sallys go there and purchase a hair dye. I recommend coloring your hair a dark brown. I also recommend you use wella color charm hair dye

yes you can dye over it but you'll have to use a dark shade but more you wash it even after dying it it'll show through it best not to use the cheapest box dye there is the more costly ones work a lot better

I'm pretty sure you can dye over it. I use too. But the blonde will eventually fade back in.

Yes you can. I work i am a hairdresser and usually when we couloir over blonde highlights it will pick up the most colour because of the pigments, so yes you can colour over it
