Vent: Why Does Everyone Remove Tags?!

Question

I had my baby shower yesterday, and it was awesome. I super super appreciate everything I was given. That being said, I have WAY more blankets than I could possibly use, and I'd like to return some to get things we really still need. But people tore the tags off! Why??? So I have like 20 blankets and no diapers... but can exchange any. Grr.
ETA: I don't mean the price tag. I know it's normal to take that off. I mean the bar code! Those are usually in different place on the tag or even on separate tags, but people cut both of them off!

Do you have any baby consignment stores in your area? Like Once upon a child?
They will buy stuff from you, thats what i plan on doing with excess stuff 👍🏻

Most do it so you don't know how much they spent. I always black or rip the bottom of the tag off.. you may be able to exchange them without tags on them.. just tell them you got them as a gift at a baby shower

If you can figure out where they're from (by brand, etc.) you may be able to return them for store credit. Just say you got it as a shower gift and they should be cool with it as long as they aren't used. I did this with several items from my bridal shower and didn't have any issues. Good luck!

It's considered rude to leave a tag on when giving a gift. A nice gift receipt in the bag or card is usually recommended and most places will take gifts back with that. It's just not classy to give a present with a huge price tag on it lol.

Because of the price tag. They don't think about you returning it lol so they just rip the whole thing off.

Kohls looks things up without tags to return them. It's a pain but I used to do it all the time working customer service there. Every items sewn in tag has a number they can type in the system and print a new tag to get it back in the system. Idk how any other store would handle it though. Good luck! I have tons of blankets and I love it because babies get sick and get them snotty and dirty and spit up so it's easier to just toss one in the wash and grab another. My shower is less than a month away and only 8 people have said they are coming and 12 have responded no and the rest of the 40 guests just aren't answering. Glad yours seems to have went well!
