should I worry ??

soo I just got off the phone with my doctors office and they are referring me to maternal fetal medicine for more in depth ultrasound.. I asked if something was wrong and she told me she couldn't disclose that information.. I'm beside myself for real .. should I be or is it just me over reacting!

I'm so sorry :( I would be so worried, but try to stay calm. You will know more soon! Was it a scheduler calling you? If it was not a clinical person (like an actual nurse, not MA or scheduler) they may not be allowed to say anything. I would personally call back and ask to speak with someone who can give you more information. It is totally inappropriate for you to be walking in to a specialist appointment with no clue why you are going! I would go so far as to tell them I won't make an appointment with another doctor without some clarity. (I still would, but maybe they will get the nurse or Md on the phone) If someone says they can't disclose info ask them specifically why. I'm sorry for your worry. You aren't over reacting at all.

Maternal fetal medicine usually covers the higher risk pregnancies, if they have discussed it with you before it might be that your doctor is out of his or her depth and wants you in better hands. You can call the clinic and leave a message for your doctor to call you and set up an earlier appointment to get the answers you're looking for but they usually discuss it with the patient before putting in a referral so this is something I'm not used to seeing.

We had a bright spot on the heart but the doctor said that is super common and usually means nothing by itself. Especially if you had NIPT. The biggest reason we got sent to maternal fetal medicine is because she was being stubborn in there and they needed to get a better ultrasound. We have to go back in a month to check on her growth because she is measuring a little small.

How far along are you? With my first child the same thing happened to me around 20 weeks when they weren't able to perform the anatomy scan properly. Turned out I had preeclampsia. Crazy that they told you that they can't tell you tho, but probably to keep you from stressing out. Try's not to worry to much, I'm sending prayers your way. I just went Monday for my anatomy scan and they are referring me to a fetal cardiologist.. the earliest appointment is 2 weeks away! I am beside myself with worry, and hope it's just precautionary too.

I'd call your doctor and ask the nurse to call you back with why you have to see a specialist.  the nurse will explain it.

sooo .. I called the baby doc .. and they returned my call .. and the baby has a bright spot on his heart .. his left ventricle. they said sometimes it goes away other times it doesn't.. I don't know much .. I'm being set up with a genetic counselor as well .. my boyfriend has a heart condition soo I just hope it's nothing serious !!!

I would be very upset I don't think that's right that they wouldn't give you any information.  I feel like they should be able to tell you anything that has to do with your baby, especially if they are referring you to a specialist of any kind.

Same thing is happening with me but I know why...does your hospital offer a patient portal? It will give you access to you file and results and the reason will be there...good luck keep us posted!
