mucus plug

Has anybody started losing their mucus plug ? I never noticed anything with my first, but I just went to the bathroom and there was what looked like a little stringy booger in my underwear with blood in it. My doctor said not to worry unless I'm bleeding heavily. Just wanted to know of ladies who lost it and if they went into labor afterwards.
